Super Thick Granny Square Crochet Potholders

I wanted to send my cousin something for her first apartment. Of course it had to be hand-made! I whipped up a couple of potholders within a matter of a couple hours! They turned out great! It is a modified granny square pattern with a fake picot edging. I will be sending these along with the dry ingredients for a couple of recipes (a future post I’m sure)! These Super Thick Granny Square Crochet Potholders is a great gift to give or to keep for yourself! I went with Americana because my cousin is currently working as a campaign advisor in Illinois. She is making a difference and I’m very proud of her!

Crochet level: EASY, SUPER EASY as a matter of fact, lol!

Granny squares are often one of the first things a beginner starts with. This pattern is modified in that the corner shells are 2 DC, chain 2, 2 DC (versus 3DC, chain 2, 3 DC) through most of the pattern until the second to last row. I always want my potholders to be super thick because the whole point of a potholder is not to burn yourself! These potholders are just that…super thick! This is a double-sided potholder with the back piece being one solid piece without “holes” in the pattern. These are not only super thick but large! Finished product is an 8×8″square. Crochet pot holders are always nice because it is made by hand, functional and easy to wash. I hope the directions make sense and if you have any questions, feel free to comment. I’ll respond as quickly as I can! This pattern is my original design and copyrighted. Please link back to this blog when sharing this pattern. This pattern can be used for personal use only and not to be utilized for profit.
